Tips To Stop Smoking
By Bryan Len

Breaking free from addictions is always a tough task and no matter how much extraneous help you may take, self-help is the best help especially when it comes to stop smoking.

Nicotine withdrawal is one of the toughest parts of stopping smoking. If you pick the wrong program for quitting smoking, you end up having gone through all those withdrawal symptoms for nothing. Not only that, but you'll have to go through all of it again the next time you try to stop smoking.

Figure out what daily activities will cause you to smoke a cigarette. Maybe you enjoy a cigarette with your morning coffee, or maybe you like smoking right before you are about to go to sleep. Whatever the case, the habit needs to be eliminated.

This is not always an easy path to follow but the negative consequences for not embracing a life of action can be terrible. Not only will it make it difficult to stop going back to marijuana but it puts you in that slave mentality that is life destroying where you believe that everything is out of your control due to fate or society and so on and you become a victim and in turn a slave to your release; marijuana.

You should anticipate unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and be prepared to overcome those symptoms. They include nausea, headaches, irritability and anxiety. During this period of time, learn to divert your attention and focus your energy on other healthy habits.

Make sure that your mind set is to quit smoking and make the commitment that this will be the last time you stop. In so many cases people make the commitment to stop but end up on a roller coaster and end up starting back again. When you are looking for a plan whether it is a patch or something else you need to find something that you can stick with long enough to be successful.

The basic truth about quitting smoking is that people who find it difficult to keep off of cigarette and nicotine addiction do not really desire to. Of course, they are addicted, but if they get themselves to a place where they couldn't reach a cigarette easily, it might work for them. By the time they return to civilization, as I have chosen to call it, the thought of smoking cigarette could be repulsive to them.

Set up a sport activity plan. Start with long walks, buy a bike and cycle to your work or just for fun, rollerblade, or go swimming. Any physical activity is good and it is up to you to pick up the ones that most suit your personality. Sport will not only help improve your appearance but it will help your body detox and reduce both the cravings and the cessation symptoms.

Make plans and tell your friends and family about your plan. When they say that smoking stinks, then turn away from them. This is actually the main key wherein you can either make or break. Setup a date when you have supposedly turned away from the cigarette. Letting your family and friends know can help since they will support you in attaining your goal.

If you are familiar with nicotine patches, then you should take a drive to the store, however that could be expensive. When there is someone there to support your smoking habit, then you have more support and someone will be there to say no for you or help you realize you're quitting. Help stopping smoking can be hard, but when you bring a friend into your habit to help you it helps out.
