Are You Feeling Pressure To Quit Smoking |
By Jonah Jameson
Smokers everywhere are feeling more and more pressure to quit their habit and face their addiction. They feel pressure in public places, the majority of which they can be penalized for smoking in. They feel pressure from their families, who do not like the nasty cigarette smoke smell that their loved one carries around with them everywhere they go.
And then there are the smokers who realize that they just are not as fast as they used to be, or are not breathing nearly as well as they were when they were younger. If you are facing problems that are about the same as the scenarios just mentioned, then perhaps it is time that you positively gave into peer pressure and quit smoking. While you may be thinking that it is too difficult a task for you to partake of, you can do it. Here are some tips and some info that should be able to help you out in the long run.
The first thing you should do is confront the fact that you have an addiction to nicotine. Some
smokers try to give themselves the false notion that their addiction to cigarettes is just a habit and nothing more, and that they can quit at anytime they choose without difficulty.
However, it is simply not true. You must confront the fact that you have an addiction, but that from here on our you are not going to smoke anymore. You need to get it into your mind that you no longer smoke and that your life is now smoke free. This is very important because it will help you break the smoker mentality.
The next thing you need to do is to keep in mind that while nicotine gums and patches can be helpful aids in your goal to quit smoking, they should not be solely relied upon. Many people who try to quit smoking use the gums and patches in the hopes that those items will replace the necessity for will power, when in fact this plan can backfire and cause smoking cravings to intensify. Instead you need to exercise your own will power.
Another thing you need to keep in mind is to not be too hard on yourself if you find you backslide and smoke again. You need to remember that quitting is not easy, and you may backslide every once in awhile. What matters is that you use it to further motivate yourself to continue trying to quit.
